From our trip to SoCal in May, we’ve already visited the sea…so let’s visit the desert. A huge thank you to Christy and Sean for joining us for the day in Joshua Tree!

Love these two and and the beat of their drum…or the strum of their ukulele if I’m being accurate! Beautiful film processing by Richard Photo Lab as usual…

I was in SoCal for a week with my friend Sarah last month, and unsurprisingly we shot some beautiful stuff. Mainly because Sarah lined up models, hair and makeup artists, gowns, and created floral pieces. I asked if I could develop some small detail vignettes to create a story. Ask anyone I have ever worked with on personal projects…there has to be a story. Especially if the details are to be meaningful. For me, photography is all about telling stories. This shoot took on a weird mix of inspiration that started with a Melville quote, veered towards Keats (and Fanny of course), and finished on Frenchman’s Creek by du Maurier. That last one is something I would like explore more fully when I have the time. Her writing creates such vivid imagery that I can’t help but want to bring it to life through my work. To simplify, I just started calling this shoot The Sea.
